Downtown, Los Angeles, CA

Elana and I spent the evening downtown, at a silent movie and then atop the Bonaventure. Sitting in a window seat in the rotating lounge, with the crazy illuminated grid of this city at our feet, I remembered that I live in a major metropolitan area. Funny how it’s possible to forget, no? I thought about the iconic New York skyline, compared with this high angle view that will forever define the popular image of Los Angeles. (Interesting that New York’s skyline is eye level — public, accessible, egalitarian in a sense — but that you have to leave Manhattan to see it.)

It was also Halloween. In the lobby, lots of women in tiny fragments of clothing. My favorite was the Sexy Fireman. Or was it Sexy Firelady? She was with a Sexy Cop. (As with the fog, however, you will have to use your imagination.)
