I attended an event put on by Elana last weekend, at the Angels Gate Cultural Center, located on a bluff on the southern edge of San Pedro. The Center is on decommissioned military land — Fort MacArthur (1914-1977) was a major west coast defense installation during the Cold War — and houses artist studios in former army offices and barracks.
Also nearby is the Vessel Traffic Service and Marine Exchange, an organization facilitating traffic control in and around the Port of Los Angeles.
Above, the canopy for the event, snug between a hillside and a bunker of some sort.
And the view from my parking spot to the ocean.
